Pinterest In Real Life link up!

This is going to be another one of those on Twitter I found… this interesting thing to write about. This one is all about trying something in real life that you find and have pinned at  Pinterest. For those who do not know what Pinterest is, it is a social bulletin  board.  Now not like the olden day meaning of a bulletin board, that was the precursor to chat rooms. It is a virtual board where you pin your “someday” stuff. It is a cool idea you can share your boards with people, take stuff off of their boards and add it to yours. I think it is by invite only at this point but I signed up for the wait list and got an email in a few days.

@libismorgan (Lizz) set up a link for thing that you try from Pinterest so I thought what the heck I may as well. This one is not a craft or recipe, but is fashion related, I hope that is ok.

This is part of the chart that is posted here:

original  link  9gag- how to tie a scarf or here Pinned at Pinterest

This is just one of the many creative ways to wear a scarf that you will find at the link.

They use two thin scarfs to get a really cool effect but i didn’t have two so I just used the one that I had. While I don’t get the same look, I can stay that my scarf that I traditionally spend all day picking at because it moves all over the place throughout the day stayed put. There was no creeping up to trying to choke the life out of me or wonky ends showing up due to rotation. The photo it is hard to tell but the tail and the loop make a cross pattern. I plan on trying some of the others as well.

So this has been my first Pinterest in Real Life post.

Hope you had a good Social Media Day!

I am sorry you are not sure what Social Media Day is? You know what Social Media is but you don’t know why it would have a whole day? Well neither did I until I just googled it (I love that google is used as a verb, dork I know.) Well it turns out that it is a celebration for all things in the social media realm.

Here is a link for you I did not know anything about this until late yesterday when someone tweeted that they where getting read for an event for Social Medial Day. I must live under a rock.

As I have stated before I am on Twitter, I have Facebook, 3 pages to be exact (Fat Dragon Crafts and Just a Little Snarky ), and I even have a Tumblr that is mostly left idle. Oh there is Skype and Yahoo Messenger. I blog quite obviously otherwise there would be nothing here for you to see.

I have to say that sometimes this whole being “on” all the time is exhausting to me.  I am not a social person by nature, in fact I am very much an introvert and really don’t like people very much. “GET OFF MY LAWN!” I do find it a bit easier to be social with people I don’t know in real life. All they get is the social butterfly that is my on-line persona, which is less complicated than me in living color I think.

So I did just what I always do, tried to keep up with twitter while cooking dinner and stuff, last night for Social Media day. What did you do? Has Social Media taken over your life?

Prolific procrastinator seeks type A skills

Gentaur schedule

Image via Wikipedia

I sit here in front of the glowing screen of my son’s laptop (long story), looking a little like Barney the Velociraptor. This is due to the fact that I am wearing a purple dress and have just on curler in my hair on top of my head. It is 5:30 am, with a cup of coffee nearby, I am trying a new scheduled approach to well I guess life.

I have always been a procrastinator, my whole life. But at the beginning of this year I set a few goals for myself, I have gotten close to a few of them. I have my blog on its own domain. I have been slowly, building a base of people who stop by to read. I think that is way cool.

The other goal I have it to make an honest attempt at my Artfire store Fat Dragon Crafts I need to start adding items and see if I can network with people so I can drive business my way. Oh and I need to make stuff to sell there too.

So now I am going to try to schedule everything, I get up stupid early (4:30am) most days any way I may as well put this time to good use. My day will start with an hour devoted to my on line world, ex. Twitter, blog and forums. This will be the bulk of my “networking” time. I have to say that networking is the way to go, and while on line networking is a better than in person networking for me, there is still some “work” to it.

I have to be a work at 8:00am, there is a break for me about 10 in which I will be checking in with Twitter, for both Snarky and Fat Dragon.

Lunch is at 12, I have an hour. There is time to catch up on Twitter and do homework or blog if there is no homework needed.

I work till 5 with another break at 3 so again Twitter and I have a date.

In the evening there is dinner to be done, kid to pick up from practice, running to be done and of course cleaning/laundry. While I have times for specific things in the evening I think I will just have to go with the flow how it is going. Just make sure I reschedule whatever is not done.

I have to start being tough on myself and really start doing the steps that I need to accomplish the goals that I have. If I want to have a shot at success at any of this. I need to be more structured in how I spend my time, even with my family. I need to have set times to answer emails, tweet etc. that way it will not be constantly interrupting my life.

Oh I do have one question for you, it is about self promoting. How much is too much? When does it become annoying? Thanks

Want to be a cool kid…

I have stated before that I watch YouTube a lot, bunches and oodles. I also spend time on twitter, a lot, bunches and oodles. Do you see a trend here? No? Well good I hide it well than. Not really the point, I think what the video below ( yes it is beauty guru related but i think it applies to other media) shows is what I struggle with from time to time. It is helpful hints on how to get noticed. Isn’t that why we put ourselves out there? We want someone to notice us. While this may come as a shock to some of the folks that I have meet in the last few weeks I am not really all that out going or social by nature. I am working on it, if I want to get people to stop by and read my randomness I need to participate. And participate I have, somedays you will find me lurking more then others. I am a work in progress. Oh, I am over 1000 views on my blog so thank you!

A little bit of both please…

Do you have a song that when you hear it, you feel happy-sappy and just a bit sad at the same time? I bet most people do. Mine is “A Long December” by Counting Crows.

The song reminds me of when DH and I first met. There is a line in there about “you should come to California” or something to that effect. It was popular on the radio at that time. It kind of became “our” song.

But listening to the words of the song I don’t get the feeling that it is a happy song. I guess I will have to ask Adam on twitter (where he is my friend, in imaginary Twitterland anyway)
